The development of Peachtree Hills began in 1910 on land that was, at that time, between the village of Buckhead and the city of Atlanta. Then called Peachtree Hills Place, the project was spearheaded by the American Securities Company of Georgia.
Peachtree Hills is situated to the east of Peachtree Road between Peachtree Creek to the south and Lindbergh Drive to the north. An early plat describes the area as follows: “Peachtree Hills Place lies high and dry – a site of most wonderful natural beauty – 90 feet above the surrounding country; overlooking and fronting the beautiful Peachtree Road … Come out in the fresh open air where life is worth living.” Still the quaint, peaceful, charming place it was at its inception, Peachtree Hills residents can often be found strolling through the neighborhood, enjoying the local shops and restaurants, or taking advantage of recreation opportunities at the Peachtree Hills gym and tennis center.
Although it is known to be a neighborhood of cozy cottages and bungalows – and accurately so – Peachtree Hills does, however, offer a number of beautiful and spacious recent constructions, which, though larger in scale, are still in keeping with the general atmosphere and (predominately Craftsman) style of the neighborhood.
The community’s youth attend E. Rivers Elementary School, Sutton Middle School, and North Atlanta High School. Highly-regarded private schools are also close by.
